Holding pattern entries

While training mission typ holding you can use the help function to display holding pattern entries. There are three standard types of entries: direct, parallel, and offset (also known as teardrop).

Direct Entry

The direct entry is performed the following way: the aircraft flies directly to the holding fix. After that it immediately begins the first turn outbound.

Offset or teardrop entry

Using this type of entry, the aircraft flies to the holding fix. Then it turns into the protected area, flies for one minute, and turns back inbound, proceeds to the fix. From there it continues.

Parallel Entry

Using this type of entry, the plane flies to the holding fix, parallels the inbound course for one minute outbound, and then turns back. Then ist flies directly to the fix, and continues in the hold.
